April Suites: Great Value Pattaya Hotel (my new favorite)

I’ve stayed at April Suites several times during my visits to Pattaya and it’s become one of my go-to options for a clean, quiet, ana affordable room. I like it even more than my old favorite: March Hotel. Located on a short, quiet street off Second Road in central Pattaya, this hotel delivers exceptional value for money while keeping you close to everything that matters.

Location and Getting Around

The hotel sits on a small side street just off Pattaya Second Road, which gives it a crucial advantage over properties directly on the main drag. The location is peaceful and quiet, yet you’re never far from the action. I can walk to the top of Soi Buakhao in about five minutes where I catch the Soi Buakhao baht bus. The standard fare is 10 baht per person for routes within the city.

For those unfamiliar with Pattaya’s transport system, the baht bus (songthaew) is the most economical way to get around. The convenience of being within a five-minute walk of Soi Buakhao means you have easy access to one of the city’s main thoroughfares without the noise and traffic that comes with staying directly on it. Pattaya’s night life is fun, but it’s nice to have a tranquil oasis to escape to.

There’s a large 7-Eleven in a two minute walk away; helpful if you’re lazy like I can be. It’s also convenient to drop by in the morning to pick up supplies to get you through the day.

Room Quality and Brightness

One aspect that sets April Suites apart from one of its sister properties, March Hotel (which I’ve also stayed at and written about), is the brightness of the rooms. I don’t know why March Hotel skimps on lighting in its basic rooms.

The rooms are clean and well maintained with modern furnishings. I found the beds comfortable, though they lean toward the firmer side, which is typical for hotels throughout Thailand. Each room includes air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a small refrigerator, and complimentary Wi-Fi that works reliably throughout the building.

Superior rooms, the basic room type, have love seats. Deluxe rooms have full sized sofa. Superior rooms are approximately 301 sq ft large (28 sqm). Deluxe are slightly larger (344 sq ft / 32 sqm) with a separate sitting area.

Rooftop Pool and Facilities

The rooftop pool area is located on the top floor and offers a quiet space to relax between excursions around the city. The pool isn’t large, but it’s rarely crowded.

The rooftop also houses a small fitness center and sauna. While these aren’t state-of-the-art facilities, they’re perfectly adequate for basic workouts or unwinding after a day of sightseeing.

Shared Ownership with March Hotel and August Suites

April Suites, March Hotel, and August Suites are all owned by the same company. This shared ownership creates some practical benefits for guests. There’s a convenient shortcut that connects April Suites to August Suites, providing easy access to Central Pattaya Road. I haven’t used it but plan to check it out during my next stay. I’ve also heard that guests at April Suites may use the larger pool and larger gym at August Suites which would be a great perk. Bring your room key, but many travelers report having no issues entering August Suites through the rear entrance. Bring your own towel.

Value for Money

April Suites consistently offers some of the best rates in central Pattaya. You can book rooms here for as low as 800 to 1,200 baht per night (approximately 24 to 36 USD) depending on the season and how far in advance you book. For that price, getting a clean room with all the basic amenities in such a central location represents excellent value. I’ve largely stayed here free using credit card points. You about learn how to stay at April Suites for free using American Airlines miles. Works for other hotels in the area as well.

The hotel sits below the average price point for three-star properties in Pattaya while maintaining higher-than-average cleanliness and service standards. Budget-conscious travelers from North America, Europe, Australia will find that April Suites stretches their travel budget further than comparable hotels in similar locations.

Practical Considerations

The hotel requires a 2,000 baht security deposit at check-in which is refundable at checkout. Standard check-in time is 2:00 PM, and checkout is at 12:00 PM. If you arrive earlier, the staff will store your luggage while you explore the city or relax by the beach. I’ve found that arriving early works well with this arrangement.

Who Should Stay Here

April Suites works well for independent travelers who value location and cleanliness over luxury amenities. I recommend it for budget-conscious visitors who want to be in the heart of Pattaya without paying premium prices. The quiet street location appeals to travelers who want to sleep well at night but still have quick access to Pattaya’s nightlife areas when they choose.

Areas for Improvement

While the hotel excels in many areas, there are some minor drawbacks worth mentioning. The property has only one elevator, which occasionally requires a short wait during busy periods. But it’s a relatively small property and I personally haven’t had a problem with it. The fitness center and sauna, while appreciated, are quite small and basic. But you can try using the larger gym at August Suites; I know I’m going to give it a try on my next stay. The gym at April Suites doesn’t have any free weights; just a treadmill, exercise bike, and whatever that equipment is on the right.

One minor complaint is that April Suites, while it does provide a hot pot and coffee cups, doesn’t provide you with coffee / tea / sugar / creamer. That’s easily resolved by walking to the 7 Eleven.

Final Assessment

April Suites delivers exactly what budget travelers to Pattaya need: a clean, comfortable room in a convenient location at a fair price. The bright rooms, quiet street setting, and proximity to baht bus routes make it particularly appealing for travelers who want to explore the city efficiently without overspending on accommodation.

After staying here multiple times alongside experiences at March Hotel, I can confidently say that April Suites represents excellent value for money. The location off Second Road provides the perfect balance between accessibility and tranquility, and being within a five-minute walk of Soi Buakhao’s baht bus route means getting around Pattaya is both easy and inexpensive. It’s also only a 10 minute walk to Soi 6; even quicker if you grab a baht bus across the street from 7 Eleven. That same baht bus will also get you to Terminal 21 – a quirky, travel-themed shopping mall that everyone should visit.

For travelers planning their first visit to Pattaya, April Suites offers a reliable, budget-friendly base for exploring everything the city has to offer. I’ll continue choosing this hotel for future stays when I’m looking for practical, comfortable accommodation in central Pattaya.

Booking Tip: I recommend booking directly through major hotel booking platforms like Agoda or Booking.com, where I’ve found the most competitive rates and the option for free cancellation on most room types. Prices vary significantly by season, with the best deals typically available during May through August.
